Our Story
Made By Claire Adelaide began in the outdoors. What started as a collection of adventures, dreams, and beliefs became a passion project revolving around our natural spaces.
I’ve slowly become an artist over the course of my life, but my roots lie in ecological and ocean communities. I think like a scientist, and I love asking, ‘Why is this the way it is’? Truth is, science can only answer part of it. To deeply understand why, you need imagination, curiosity, and creativity.
Art does an excellent job of explaining our natural world. You don’t need to be able to read a scientific paper to look at a painting of an alpine meadow and understand how resilient, biodiverse, and ecologically important it is. Art is an accessible, universal way to experience something.
The goal of Made By Claire Adelaide is not simply to make and sell artwork; it is to create a collective experience that can bring people together. My work centers on the interactions between nature and society. Being a self-taught artist means I approach ideas and projects differently than most classically trained creatives. I’ve completed over 20 commissioned paintings in the past two years and learned something new each time. I continue to expand my business through my online storefront, selling original artwork, postcards, and locally produced prints of my paintings.
Personally and professionally, I am always looking to learn. Whether taking on new art projects for clients, working on organic farms, or helping women begin their surfing journey, I constantly seek new experiences and ideas. Since moving to Maine in 2022, I have been getting involved with the local community while growing my skills as an artist. With our current state of the world, there is so much work to do at a global, national, and local level. But how do we help people understand how they can make a difference? And how do we create light in dark times? I believe the intersection of art, science and community is where we find hope and resilience - and I hope my work helps us all grow together.
